About Maddox
Monterey Shale, TIP 300047743 affectionately known as "Maddox," is a magnificent Thoroughbred with a heart as big as his stride. Born with natural athleticism and an unyielding spirit, Maddox has proven time and again that Thoroughbreds are capable of so much more than just racing.
Maddox had a very late introduction to the track for unknown reasons. His first start was in 2016 when he was 4 years old, an age at which most thoroughbreds are wrapping up their career. He had his last start in 2019, finishing his career with 21 starts, 3 wins, 1 seconds, and 4 3rds, earning over $84k. After retirement, he was passed around. Everyone said he was "too wild" when really, he was just anxious and misunderstood. Maddox is now calm and loving life.
About Rachael
Rachael Ann Cutler never thought she would be blessed enough to own horses, but fortunately for her, she has a knack for finding great things at low prices. She now has had 4 horses and Maddox is by far her favorite. She bought him for $2000 sight-unseen and prayed she wouldn't regret it. She never has.
Unfortunately for both Rachael and Maddox, Rachael was recently diagnosed with Sjögren's Syndrome. Sjögren's Syndrome is an Autoimmune Disorder that attacks moisture glands, connective tissues, and even vital organs. Rachael and her doctor discovered this after Rachael couldn't move for 3 months because of the pain she was in. Rachael continues to work with her horses, even if it's painful because in her own words, "My horses are too good to sit."
